The People’s Liberation Army of China conducted new military exercises to test the integration between soldiers and unmanned systems in modern combat scenarios.

The operation involved FPV (First Person View) drones and armed robotic dogs, used in offensive actions such as reconnaissance, fire support, and breaching enemy defenses.

During the training, the soldiers launched the drones in an unconventional way, throwing them into the air before guiding them to their targets. The robotic dogs, first showcased at the Airshow China in 2024, were used for ammunition transport, obstacle navigation, and primarily as armed mobile platforms, operating directly on the front line alongside infantry units.

The use of these robots on the battlefield is not new. In 2024, a robotic dog equipped with a rifle was tested in a joint exercise with Cambodia. This year, during “Golden Dragon 2025”, China once again combined technology and light weaponry, attaching a QBZ-95 rifle to an aerial drone, which provided cover for ground troops.

The development reflects the country’s growing investment in military robotics and automated tactics.
